Well here’s something for next semester’s project.. and is really really irritating me currently as I can’t seem to find my original seven step outline for my story idea which is irritating me massively, reeeeeeeally. Yes, I can see I’ve repeated myself, but there you go!

(also testing if these ‘cuts’ work on this thing. Gosh wordpress is easier to use and I think I’ll transfer this over after the holidays.)

Well, here’s character bio sort of thing that.. I started writting a coupla weeks ago I think and just kept going and going. It’s rather rambling and needs to be reorganised but it was a fun exercise in simply expanding on the character and their world.

Character BIO: DawnAllies (sorta)

DawnAllies is a pegasus Colour Pony in the the Enchanted Valley.
She is currently Junior Stork Warden atop Mt High under the tutelage of MorningGlow. She has been working as a Junior Stork Warden for just under a year now, since having been given her assignment by the Queen after visting the First Tree in the Forest of Wisedom to find out what her life path would be.
DawnAllies isn’t exactly good at what she does, but she has her heart in the right place and is trying as best she can. It’s just that sometimes things get ever so dull and she just can’t help but be distracted by more interesting things. That and despite having the serious sides of both her parents, she is still after all a Colour Pony and there’s only so much seriousness than can be taken before everything has to turn bubbly again. Colour Pony’s don’t work very well at extended periods of solemity. They’re just not made to be like that.

Humdrum is DawnAllies’ best friend in the whole entire world, a yellow, glowing, shapeshifting sprite, he is her constant companion. He is also as often as not her conscious and her reason for troubles. Where as DawnAllies doesn’t take any convincing before just jumping into the game, Humdrum requires extensive reassurance that this is the right thing to do, but once he’s in on it, he wont back down until it’s done and he’ll keep those around him at it until the end. Thusly Humdrum is a perfect counterpoint to DawnAllies’ generally flighty nature, keeping her on track when she would alternately go down as many other ones as she possibly could.

For as long as DawnAllies can remember she wanted to be just like her father, UnityStar, a Warpaint Pony First Class. On of the elite Colour Pony’s that help keep the Pony Realm’s borders safe from intruders and the nasty things that lie just the other side of the mountains. A great warrior, DawnAllies’ first memories are of him telling her great stories of heroism of him and his commrade WarPaint Ponies fighting against the forces of darkness and evil that must be kept out of the Enchanted Valley at all costs. With such heroic tales to send her to sleep each night, it’s no surprise that these stories are what have inspired her to try and make a serious Pony of herself, to be more than just a bubbly generic Colour Pony. DawnAllies wants to be a warrior, she wants to be important and make a difference in the lives of others. She wants to be a hero, just like StarBlaze, WishingWell or SouthernCross of her father’s stories.

Just like most Colour Ponys, DawnAllies has a large heart filled with love and caring for those in the world around her. A joy in life itself and all those who live it. She likes rainbows, flowers, fluffy clouds, sweets, chocolates, sunnydays, friends and family, etc etc. Think of something cute and cuddle, bright and bubbly, she’s pretty much gaurenteed to like it. If it weren’t for the fact she were a Colour Pony and that’s just how they are you could perhaps be a little worried by all the sickly sweetness of it all. Sugardrops would be a standout fave food for her over pretty much anything else. She’s made herself sick from eating them all day when she won a Happy Day celebration event a couple of years ago. Still, she doesn’t regret it, they were just so wonderful!

Like a lot of Colour Ponys she also tends to be scared of your typical scarey, icky, yuck sorts of things. She’s not so bad as to be afraid of the dark, but DawnAllies is known to run from big hairy spiders, snakes, scarey monsters, etc. Of course, when you’re a little coloured pegasus from girlish dreams this is to be expected. Most of all she dislikes bats and batwinged creatures. When she was little DawnAllies got lost in the Dead Tree Forest and stumbled into a bat’s nest. Since then she’s been scared witless of them. It was the first time she ever encountered something that was scarey and she couldn’t fly away from them, after all, bats can fly too.

DawnAllies’ mother is a Stargazer Pony, one of the Colour Ponies that watch the heavens from the observatory predicting future events from the stars. It’s a very important job in the Pony Realm and the Colour Ponies whose life task it is to do this tend to have something a little odd about them. With dreamy counternance and an almost permanet far away look to their eyes it’s not that surprising that DawnAllies took after her father more than her mother. Not that DayBreak is a bad pony or anything, it’s just that the air of mysticism that floats around her isn’t that action and adventure that gels so well with DawnAllies that makes her father’s world so much more appealing.

There’s three other Junior Stork Wardens currently going through training with DawnAllies. StormFront, AstroTurf and Locks’n'Love all started around the same time that she did with StormFront having been there the longest out of their group. DawnAllies finds AstroTurf to be the pony she tends to get along best with, with his friendly easy going attitude it’s more a surprise when ponys don’t get along with him. Locks’n'Love is a fairly airy fairy sort of pony with a heart of gold, she loves working with the baby ponys that are just about to be sent out to their parents by the storks. StormFront is the pony that DawnAllies finds herself disagreeing with the most. Both ponys can be very strongly opinionated, but where as DawnAllies will give in at times if the alternate is proven to be the more beneficial and is happy to let by gones be by gones, StormFront is likely to hold on to her grudges and complaints. At least for a little while.

Buster is the old Stork who each of the Junior Stork Wardens has to report to morning, lunch and afternoon to make sure they’re doing what they’re supposed to be doing. He comes across a little befuddled at times and is pretty easy to get along with, if only for the fact he’s so easy to confuse, trick and run circles around at times. Of course, there’s always the other storks around who can put the juniors in check and there’s CloverShine, the head pony in charge of the Stork Wardens who comes in and checks on all the Colour Ponies to make sure they’re not getting into too much mischief.

Can you tell where the inspiration comes from? Heh.

Seven Step Outline

Premise:
Overcoming your fears, standing up for yourself and others.

Setup:
DawnAllies is a Pony Bright, a Jr Stork Warden atop Mt High going about her normal day.

Inciting Incident:
DawnAllies is given her first real job on her own. Being given the responsibility to take a message from Mt High to one of the Bumble villages on the other side of the Bright Kingdom.

Act One Turning Point:
On arriving at the Bumble village DawnAllies watches a horde of goblins destroying the town, hurting the Bumbles and finally running off with a special artefact. DawnAllies sits in the bushes frozen with fear, unable to do anything to help.

Mid-Point:
Overcoming her fear only once the goblins are gone, DawnAllies comes out of hiding and on watching the miserable state of the Bumbles and their village she decides there and then she’s going to help them. So she heads off after where the goblins had gone; to the Dark Queen’s castle.

Act Two Turning Point:
In the Dark Queen’s castle DawnAllies follows the troop of goblins that stole the Bumble’s artefact, trying to find an opportunity where she can steal it back from them and escape.

Climax
Finally after some time waiting and watching DawnAllies gets the chance to get back the artefact. The goblins have mostly passed out or sleeping and DawnAllies can attempt to sneak past them to get the artefact. Just as she has her hooves on the artefact she’s discovered and then it’s a race through the castle trying to escape, keeping the goblins from catching her and not losing the artefact.

Resolution
Having finally lost the goblins via a secret passage DawnAllies runs headlong down the corridor, only to explode out into a large open room. The Dark Queen’s throne room.

Evidently I can’t remember what the Bumble Village artefact is, but oh well. So yeah, yay the colour ponys!
