So woo no computer till like 11pm tomorrow! .. and I have too much stuff that needs doing currently. This is not fun. Library computers are also lame, though they seem to of gotten an upgradesince I last used one. Stilllame keyboards.

Anywho, yes. Just thought I’d announce to the world, no computer for moi! Woo!

Okay, this is really random and not much related with school or anything. But by gosh if only I could do just what this little dude is doing. Kill all those horrid little jap fangirl wannabes! Put them out of their misery!

Heyo!

I signed up for the ACMI newsletter thing that comes out uh.. once a month? Via email and such from one of the things from a time I’ve gone there.. I think. Or I signed up ont he site. Anyway, whatever.

The point is got an email from them today and they’ve got a Machinima event this weekend http://www.acmi.net.au/7F9D68B2237B46669C092E06D08F60C4.aspx that could possibly be kinda cool.. but even better. They have a proper Animation Festival on. http://www.acmi.net.au/miaf_2008.aspx

More info at MIAF.net (Melbourne International Animation Festival)
Which all looks really cool.. I’m just all GAH cause the only days I can go have a look are Monday and possibly Sat/Sunday.. All the programs during hte week start at 5pm+. Monday we finish early enough to go see something, but Tuesday with class now finishing at 6pm and then Wed class finishing at 8pm.. THEN I have work that -starts- at 5pm I’m buggered for any chances to go see and I’d really dang well like to actually go this year! I’ll have to wait and see how work arranges itself for the weekend. Cause by golly gosh and dangit! I want to go have a looksie.

So yeah. For anyone who -can- go and for people who didn’t know and could be a lil curious and etc!
Animation Festival at ACMI Mon16th of June to Sun 22nd of June.

This dude I’ve been working on and off for like, weeks now.. probably two months, school stuff keeps getting in the way and the fact I’m up to shading the wings makes it all a bugger. Using him for a couple of the tutorials for Grahams class though, so uh, yay that?

It’s also an absurdly small percentage in size of the real image.

Well.. here’s an article I read a while ago and found to be particularly interesting. About how times have changed in the work place and how there’s soooo many distractions in the work place there to ‘help’ but that actually clogs up all your time. How all these nifty little things just add so much noise in the background you can’t concentrate anymore about what’s important.

http://mag.awn.com/?article_no=3456

It’s written with animators in mind but can be applied to other work places as well, studying even. I remember making note of it after something that was said last year in one of the classes.. and reading the article reminded me of it and how true it was and yeah. I liked the a rticle so much I actually saved it on a word doc and the page! ^^

So yeah, for anyone who’s interested.
From Animation World Magazine (AWN )website, which also is a reeeeally good general info on anything pretty much to do with the animation industry, internationally and with good links to most everything you want to know about animation and the different fields related to.

So that’s it for that one.

Cause I just found it again and I utterly love this site.

http://tvtropes.org/

For a listing off all your possible sterotypes, cliches, etc etc and their variants you can possibly have in tv/movies/anime/books/games/etc with descriptions and examples this is a wonderful site, seriously. Go looksie! It’s absurdly easy to go and waste simply hoooooours circling round and round from various links on each page reading up about all your types of character types and the examples you might possibly know from different series and other things.

So yeah. As it’s media related and I think it’s a pretty cool place to look about, especially for well, discovering all those different cliches, tricks, character developments, story arcs, plotlines, etc, that can happen through story telling. Much fun!

It’s a wiki so it’s influenced by people and is constantly added to/updated.

It’s also got spoiler blockouts so you wont spoil things for yourself if you’re currently watching/reading something and the thing they use as an example is something you haven’t actually seen yet. It’s your choice if you screw it up for yourself basically!

And yeah. Thought I’d share, lookie, using the blog for something!

We’ll try that again..

Here’s the first post for moi that has absolutely nothing interesting in it and is just taking up the space that the introductory default thing would have otherwise.

MAC keyboards suck massively.

This is Nikki K De for Chisholm’s Advanced Diploma of Multimedia 2008.

Toodles!
